Weekend with Schwarzkopf Professional

Written by Tess K.

We had quite the busy weekend here at John Sahag Workshop last week! The floor was buzzing with excitement around the clock with seminars, cocktail parties and hands-on creative workshops hosted by our exclusive color line Schwarzkopf Professional. We opened our doors to industry leading distributors, salon owners and hairdressers in the region to help us celebrate the partnership between John Sahag Workshop and Schwarzkopf.

Our jam-packed agenda for the weekend kicked off with a Seminar on Sunday lead by Rossa Jurenas as a part of the Meet the Masters Elite Education program. Meet the Masters is a series launched to highlight John Sahag Workshop as the new NYC Academy destination for Schwarzkopf Professional. It is an ongoing program in which we invite four of the industry's top experts (Damien Carrey, Rossa Jurenas, Kim Vo and our own Hue Specialist Rick Wellman) to teach a two-day session of specialized techniques to other professionals, each focusing on a specific area of expertise.

This last session was all about exploring limitless creativity in color with the launch of Schwarzkopf's brand new Direct Dye line IGORA Colorworx. Rossa Jurenas, a twelve-time international award winner and North American Creative Color Director of Schwarzkopf Professional introduced the line over a two-day intensive seminar demonstrating the flexibility and range of these new pigments. The range includes seven colors as well as a white diluter (eight in total) and is different than any other color line on the market. Rossa praises the new colors saying "our Colorworx can be injected into any of the colors in Schwarzkopf portfolio without compromising the color or development", a technology that sets Schwarzkopf apart from other manufacturers.

Rossa took students through her own thought processes and techniques by demonstrating on live models on the first day of seminar. "People are so smart these days with what's out there and with what's new in technology that as a colorist I need to be able to customize my colors so that those people will come back all of the time," she explains. "The number one reason people stop seeing their colorists is because they get bored and with these colors you can always give them something that is unique and different."

The seminar was followed by a night of music and cocktails where the live models and their freshly colored 'dos showed off the beautiful work by Rossa and her students. The Launch Party was a gleeful soiree that solidified our partnership with Schwarzkopf and it was a great opportunity to introduce our space to other industry leaders in the area.

The weekend was wrapped up with a day of experimentation using the new colors. The students, armed with new knowledge and amazing pigments, were free to explore any method they chose and the results were electric!

Thank you Rossa, Schwarzkopf, and their new National Corporate Trainer Ian Mayer-Marszalek for an exciting weekend! We can't wait for the next installment.
